Lent Devotional: Hope's Lament
As we move together toward Easter, let us remember the joy and hope that Jesus’s disciples felt as they entered Jerusalem on the first Palm Sunday. Remember the happiness of the people who believed that their long-promised King had arrived. Feel the reassurance of what seemed—for that moment—to be prophecy fulfilled. Hosannah! Yet, in less than a week, they would feel the pain, despair, loneliness, and fear of seeing Jesus die on a cross. It is as if hope itself had reason to lament.
